Some time ago I lived in Bangkok, as an exchange student. I was a visiting son in a Thai family, went there in a typical Thai school and plunged fully into the culture of Thailand.
On this site I publish my experiences and impressions of my exchange school year in words and pictures.
My goal is to you an insight into Thai culture, school, family, language ... to vermittlen. Be there live - from the beginning to the end of this adventure in Thailand!

Elephants in Thailand
"Chang" means elephant in Thai and Thais love elephants, they promised happiness, both in nature, as well as symbols. Chang Phueak called the white elephant, which is most sacred for Thais. A symbol of royal power, the white elephant, adorned with a white elephant until 1917 the flag of Thailand (then Siam). Thais but also tourists mainly visit villages like elephants in the jungle, "work camps" or breeding stations - enough to secure their survival. Unlike elephants specially set up stations, where tourists get brought before a show and then go on an elephant ride, visitors can admire the elephant camp these animals in their original work. Heaviest load service in rough terrain they do with strength, dexterity, endurance and intelligence. This is now only allowed in elephant villages, as work animals are elephants in Thailand are no longer allowed. In the past Thai kings rode on her elephant in. ..
Money Tree
Here in Thailand we see wondrous trees and flowers which grow on money! So it has at least the appearance. For every Buddhist festival - temple festival, priestly ordination, temple inauguration sacrifice of the faithful, etc. bills, a sort of bell-type bag. The green and red notes are artfully draped on the tree branches, the more he is full, the more interesting it looks! This tree in the photo I met at a carnival - a monk folded banknote delicate fruit on the branches - the money tree collection bag was used to renovate a temple. When I asked why it needed the tree, I was told that the tree represents the fig tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment ...
"Keep Thailand Clean
Not only is the "village in the plum grove" (literally translated as "Bangkok") has big problems with its wastewater system, the air pollution and the continued decline in groundwater levels, and on islands such as Koh Samui, which is mentioned only since the early 70s in guidebooks, are accumulating problems. On the way to the new airport on the island, I passed a large pond full of construction and household waste that was dumped into it without hesitation. In addition, as in many other parts of the island, stands a sign saying 'Keep Samui Clean "- holding Koh Samui clean! You have to pay even 2000 baht (= 40 €) punishment should be caught. The monthly salaries are 1-2 ...
Thai markets
I love Thai markets! There is the tastiest (and also for the tourists gewöhnungsbedürftigste) food and more offered. Much easier and faster than cooked in restaurants, huge selection and before your eyes - these are the markets that take place almost every week, every day in Bangkok. Other lines, I prefer this picture: worms, grubs, grasshoppers and fried shrimp are available in almost every market in this form. They are, like almost all takeaway food, packed in plastic bags while still warm. Different types of noodles such as Chinese long rice noodles or egg noodles - delicious! Meatballs on the Spies! It is in these bags with hot sauce over them, ...
Eating out
In a restaurant my mother has already brought many a little of what they bought on the way and got bagged. Most of them are sweets, they just laughed at. Then be required for plates, all distributed and eaten in the restaurant. I can see no evil eyes on this behavior. It is perfectly normal! Normal is that you can pack up the remains after the meal. There is a tremendous amount ordered - usually across menu. The table is always overflowing with a variety of dishes. Everyone takes what he just turns trying here and there - until he is tired. After the meal, everything is packaged separately from the kitchen staff in the familiar plastic bag ...

"Motosai-Anyone who has witnessed the traffic and daily traffic jams in Bangkok, the "Motosais" have come to love.
